What is the OBVC, the Brazilian sister olympiad?

The OBVC (Olimpíada Brasileira de Vibe Coding) is the IOOVC's sister competition: a vibe coding olympiad in Portuguese and in Brazilian reais, for people in Brazil, at obvc.com.br. It is not a translated version of this site. It is a separate competition, with its own registration, prize ladder and podium, and the same registration deadline, October 31, 2026.

Two olympiads, one identity

The OBVC follows the same format as the IOOVC: University and Open categories, four judging criteria with a score from 0 to 100, and a prize ladder that grows with the number of registrations. The sites are separate, with the same visual identity, and the same Brazilian team is behind both.

What changes is the audience, the language and the currency. The IOOVC is open to anyone in the world, charges in US dollars and requires projects with an interface in English; the OBVC is for people in Brazil, charges in reais and requires an interface in Brazilian Portuguese.

Why it is not a translation

Registrations, databases and podiums are separate. Whoever wants to can compete in both, with separate registrations, even with the same project, as long as it has a Portuguese interface for the Brazilian one.

That is why the two sites do not point to each other as language versions: to a search engine that would say they are the same page in another language, which is false. The community, however, is one: the Vibe Coders Community brings Brazilians and everyone else together in the same Discord server.

How to enter both

Registration for the IOOVC happens here; for the OBVC, at obvc.com.br. Anyone already registered for the IOOVC finds in the member area an invitation to compete in the Brazilian one too, with a discount.

Each registration is judged by its own olympiad's committee, so the same project can receive two scores and compete for two podiums.

When this matters

You found the Portuguese site and want to know whether it is the same competition or another one.

Your project already has a Portuguese interface and you want to know whether you can compete in both.

You are in Brazil and are deciding which of the two to enter.

Our position

Sister competitions, not a translation: that is why the IOOVC and the OBVC do not present themselves as versions of each other. Each has its own audience, its own currency and its own podium, and the two share the same community.
